Two artificial vernal pools were constructed in Newfield by the Upper Susquehanna Coalition in 2009. These pools have a firm liner allowing the pools to stay full of water for a longer duration than natural vernal pools. These pools are located on VanKirk Road in a portion of 20 acres that was purchased by the Town for a potential park. These pools are about 15 feet in diameter and 1 foot deep in the center. These pools were created to help preserve biodiversity.
